Hey Captain FlashLight Friends,
It's true, Captain FlashLight is not on the radio anymore. If that makes you sad, imagine how it makes me feel. Since 1993, I've written and produced over 200 episodes, and I've been the Captain's voice for all of those shows, so I'm probably the one who will miss him most! So why am I cancelling the radio show?

I've asked the Captain himself to answer that question.

It is I, Captaaaaaaaain FlashLight! Yes, I know it's weird, knowing that Blinkie and I, and all the characters, will not be on your radio any more. Is it the work of Low Voltage or Bulbus? Or Louie Dah Lampshade? No. You have only one person to blame. Me. That's right! ME. Ya see...

Being on radio is like, well, like being locked inside a little tiny box. I need to shine! To fight! To battle darkness with Blinky at my side!!! And, I just can't do that on radio. Because all you can do is hear it, when you really need to SEE IT! That would make it so much more... LIGHTastic!

So, Bongo Rod and his friends are working really hard to develop the Captain FlashLight animated series. And we need YOUR PRAYERS! It may take a while, and it may go through lots of changes, but with God's help, it will happen. And one day, you'll really be able to see THE LIGHT shine!!!

I'm looking forward to that day. And I hope you are, too. Right, Blinky?

Captain FlashLight Pilot Episode

ACT I

EXT. DOWNTOWN FILAMENT CITY STREET - AFTERNOON

A limousine with a lampshade medallion on the hood pulls up to the city's largest retail lamp store, LOTSA LOTSA LAMPS.

The chauffeur opens the door for founder and owner LOUIS LAMPAREENI, a heavy-set man with gangster potential.

He walks briskly toward the glass doors, bumps into a pedestrian but keeps going and stomps inside.

INT. LOTSA LOTSA LAMPS, CENTRAL SEWING ROOM

Lampareeni enters a huge room with hundreds of ladies sitting at loud sewing machines. He clears his throat. They all stop and stare at him, almost mechanically.

SEWING LADIES

               (in unison)

            Hello Mr. Lampareeni.

LOUIS LAMPAREENI

            Ladies. Coffee break.

Like an army, the ladies clear the room and close the doors, which lock with the sounds of heavy internal bolts. 

We watch Louis' passive face and hear precision gears grinding as the desks lower into the floor. Then, silence.

He walks toward the center of the dim, vacated room. The floor begins to ramp upward as it converts into a giant lampshade upon which he sits like a king on a throne.

A shiny metal lampshade lowers from the ceiling and lands perfectly, covering his entire head. We hear a long sigh. And then a low, gruff, sarcastic gangster voice.

LOUIE DAH LAMPSHADE

              (slightly muffled)

            Ahhh. Soothingly gloomy and dim.

The Promo Video is 95% finished! Yay!

What is it? The Concept Sizzler is a one-minute video we'll use to give a small taste of the animated series to companies or networks. This mini-adventure shows Cap facing a giant robot, the Stop-Clops from the Pilot Animatic, only much larger. Our hero draws his flashlight to fire but it fizzles and shorts out. Blinkie fires his LumaLight, and BLAMMO! It's a direct hit. This robot is done for the day! The Captain is feeling good about it, until the giant robot falls on his foot. "Oooh. My foot," he says, smiling and grunting at the same time.
